Fallout 3 Mods: The Ties that Bind – Jackson

So I was told The Ties that Bind is the name of an already existing Fallout mod, so I’ll need to come up with a new title for the three part quest mod eventually. The quest itself though is keeping that name, the pun is just too perfect to change.

In any case, in addition to this role I have Barry Coleman working on a follower for FO3, and given that’s not reliant on other actors at the moment, it should be one of the first mods I release. I’m still debating whether to wait for the others and bundle them up, but we’ll see how things go.

  1. Nice! This is looking good, Kris! Personally, I would wait for a bundle. But the again, I guess it’s easier fixing bugs when you have to deal with less content so maybe it’s better to release followers one by one.

  2. Ah all these characters look like fun to meet. :3

If you’re having trouble with a title, try maybe using a song title? A lot of Fallout quests are named after songs, low hanging fruit, I guess? Could be neat though.

Yeah, there’s going to be a beta/bug testing phase anyway so I’ll probably go one by one, with a bundle for the actual release.

Yeah, that’s a good idea. I’ll have to cycle through a few. More than what I’ve shown has been voiced, but so much of it spoilery I don’t really want to show it. I hate the concept of trailers in general because they always spoil stuff. At the same time, I also want to give the voice actors something they can show people.

    1. Hmm… Well something I’ve noticed is that it’s pretty hard to be the bad guy in these games. You have to actively try to be evil, and considering many players are more likely to pick the “good” or “middle ground” choice, what about showcasing some of the characters responses to “evil” choices? Show off some of the voice actors emotional range (or whatever it’s called.)

I don’t consider trailers to be too spoilery personally, especially when it comes to followers, because you learn more about the character while traveling with them then you do during the introduction; it’s the journey not the destination and blah, blah, blah. You get the idea. xD
