Asteria is a bard residing in Old Hroldan. She plays there in hopes that word of her talents will reach the Jarl of Markarth, as the Silver-Blood Inn is already occupied by a skald named Ogmund. Asteria plays an original song, Dusk on Anvil Harbor. However, the song is known to be infamous given its association to a certain thief. As such, Asteria carries a birth certificate on her at all times to prove her identity.
In the original version, Asteria’s dialogue was meant to be navigated like an interrogation, using her facial cues to determine how to proceed. For example, an expression of fear would require the player to use a threatening response to continue the interrogation. However, this was removed once the quest was implemented.
The Raven of Anvil
Speaking with Orenius at Dragon Bridge will reveal the origins of the song Asteria plays as well as hinting at her true identity. Prior to the quest, Asteria will also refer vaguely to the nature of their relationship, before becoming more and more direct as the quest progresses.
Once the quest is completed, she will be replaced by Efram and the Songstress, allowing the player to still hear identical versions of her music.
