As of today I’ve finished six quests now for Fallout 3 and two for New Vegas, but I still need to get the parts cast and voiced, so I don’t really have a time frame on when they’ll be released. With New Vegas I’ll probably just concentrate on background NPCs, Hope Lies, and stuff to fill in the cracks.
- Same with Interesting NPCs version 3.09.2. Just need a few things voiced, and once that’s done there will be enough new content to justify an update. Right now it’s just too similar to the previous patch.
- According to the Bethblog, you will soon be able to release mods over 100MB onto the Steam Workshop. I think it used to be 10MB back when I first uploaded Interesting NPCs to Steam. That experiment lasted about a week.
- Speaking of engines, I mentioned this in the forums, but Unreal Engine 4 is now free to use. Of course, you still have to learn to code, get art meshes and textures, make animations, and all the other millions of things that go into a video game. But given you can already buy the art, hopefully the marketplace will grow and provide developers with the assets they need.
Anyways, I’ll need to figure out whether to upload the mod to Steam. From what I remember the workshop auto-updates when a new version is uploaded, which is not ideal for a 2GB mod. Although granted, I don’t update nearly as frequently as I used to, so it might work.
Hope everyone has a good week, and as always thanks for the support.
That’s good news about the workshop, even if a bit late in the day. Hopefully the same for FO4, if it gets a Steam release and, well, gets made in the first place.
It will get made sooner or later, nonoodles. I betting a FO4 in 2016. Any bets, anyone? xd
And of course, thank you again Kris for making Skyrim way way way better than vanilla and for continuing supporting your mods and for giving us new ones for Fallout 3 and New Vegas!! :)
One bajillion buckaroos it will be in late 2015!
I’ve been itching to try out TTW and/or Project Brazil. Do you (or any of the kindly souls hanging around this blog) recommend either/both? (I don’t mean to use them at the same time, of course).
I haven’t tried TTW because after finishing Fallout 3 once and FNV five times I didn’t see the point. Project Brazil looks interesting but there is only one episode out so far. I am waiting until it’s done to try it and….late 2015!! I hope you are winning this bet, nonoodles! :)
Lol, you have a point there. All the same, it’s a sweet thought, shuttling back and forth between the two games without exiting either. I certainly mean to try Project Brazil soonest. It looks wonderful.
I think uploading it to Steam is a good idea. Automatic updates are awesome and more people get a chance to see this awesome mod without having to wrestle around with Nexus.
But wouldn’t an automatic update be 2GB?
Like, from what I understand, every time I upload, I have to upload the whole thing as opposed to a patch, which then results in everyone having to wait for the 2GB download before they can play. I definitely could be wrong on this, I haven’t used the workshop for some time so maybe smaller tweaks can be applied.
If you want my advice (or even if you don’t!) upload the ABSOLUTE FINAL NO MORE CHANGES EVER final, final, final version to SW or you and its users will be in for much crappiness. The size limit removal is welcome but the other changes don’t exactly improve the sheer retardiness of the Workshop system.
At a guess, these changes are in anticipation of a new moddable *coughFallout4cough* game, not because they suddenly rediscovered their love for Skyrim.
