I could use some work if you got any. I’m pretty handy with a wrench, and won’t make a fuss.
Work for me
Sounds like a plan. Just tell me where you need me, and I’l head on over.
Idles
I had a friend who was accused of being a synth. Maybe it was true, maybe it wasn’t. If I had an answer to those questions, I wouldn’t be asking them.
On the one hand, I’d like to think synths are people, just like you and me. But if they’re replacing folks, that also makes them murderers.
They say synths are just like people on the inside too, right down to the bone. I guess that’s the point.
I like putting things together. It’s fun making big things out of small parts.
It’s kind of embarrassing for someone my age, but I like holotape games. It’s an escape for me.
You play any games on that Pip-Boy? Atomic Command and Zeta Invaders are my favorite.
It’d be tough for anyone to beat my high score on Zeta Invaders, but I wouldn’t bet against you.
Putting together a settlement is a lot like building a home. Except the foundation is the people, and not the concrete.
Keep your tools sharp and your mind sharper.
There’s no more valuable thing in the world than a little elbow grease.
My father was more of an artist than a mechanic. If I paid him any mind, maybe I’d be a painter instead.
I know water’s a precious commodity, but a hot bath is great for aching muscles.
Everything in this world comes down to trust. You want to live with people you aren’t afraid to turn your back on.
Nobody’s perfect. But at least some of us are trying.
In my last settlement, I was more or less the mayor. We had this issue where some of the settlers were accused of being synths, and I had to decide their fate.
I’m glad I don’t have to make those decisions anymore.
I hope that you never have to see a friend die. And I pray that you never have to be the executioner.
Paranoia is a disease, really. It can infect people faster than a cough in a punch bowl.
Best cure for pretty much anything is a good night’s sleep.
Ever hear the one about the kid with the bad report card? His pa asks him, “Son, was it ignorance, or apathy?” And the kid says, “I don’t know and I don’t care.”
These days I just keep my head down and do the work. No more politics, no more running things. It’s served me well so far.
If I have an opinion, I just toss it in the trash with the rest of my “bright ideas.”
I used to drive myself crazy wondering if I’d ever be replaced. Then I realized I wasn’t all that important.
I used to sleep with a loaded shotgun under my bed. Now, I’m just a nobody, and I sleep easy.
If someone does something suspicious, I pay him no mind. It’s none of my business.
The past can’t be changed. But damn if my mind isn’t obsessed with the idea.
These days my mind tends to drift. That’s kind of what the holotape games are for. I think it helps with my focus.
One of things I used to do was marry people. I was basically the unofficial reverend of the settlement.
You’d be surprised how often settlers fall in love. It’s a natural thing.
I’ve always been a religious person at heart. But scripture can only teach you so much. Does a synth have a soul? I don’t know.
If there’s one thing you learn about being in charge, it’s that people like to complain.
If they aren’t complaining about the food, they’re complaining about the portions.
It feels like you’ve managed to run a settlement without the drama. Imagine that. We should head on over to a casino before your luck runs out.
