3DNPC v3.05.1

2014-03-24_00003
Here is version 3.05.1, the first of ten weekly updates until a full Nexus release. This week we have a couple of audio overhauls, Jerulith and Carmella. Carmella (Elegant Artist) was previously re-recorded for v3.05, but I felt there was some voice consistency issues that we ironed out in this release. There’s still about a dozen lines that need to be re-taken, but we’re more or less ready to proceed with making a quest for her. Jerulith (Jessica Osborne) is pretty much done from the standpoint of base lines, and Jessica’s even done the first section of quest stuff too. You can also catch her voicing a character for Anna’s NPCs too. The woman is a machine.

The one new NPC I’ve added is Mithril (Ronja Monto). If you run into her, she’ll ask you to find something. This something exists in the world, but the person who owns it hasn’t recorded his lines. So bringing the two together will result in nothing happening. Nada. Hopefully something will happen in the future, but it won’t in this version. They’ll just stare at each other and blink. However, you can go through the preliminary lines, and get to know her a bit before the larger chunk of stuff gets implemented.

UPDATE: l decided to shut off Mithril’s dialogue. Originally, I left her in because I thought the base lines were done, but I remembered just now I changed the backstory. So removed because she’s not fully voiced. You can still find her, but she’s a mute.

Trailers and Teasers – Jerulith

Like many of the older NPCs, I’ve been wanting to re-work Jerulith for some time. Given they populate the towns, the old NPCs are often the first ones you meet, so it’s important that little things like the mispronunciation of Justiciar (this wouldn’t have been a problem if Samara wasn’t so damn sexy) and the American accent don’t create a negative first impression of the mod’s quality.

Still, most of this is so minor it isn’t worth remaking the character from scratch. However, it wasn’t until I wanted to make a quest and actor availability became an issue that I decided to go ahead and make a change. This decision was made all the more easier by Jessica Osborne being awesome to the max.

Ah yeah. That’s me, pushing the buttons with the evil grin and doing the safety dance. Just come along for the ride, gentle Frys, and we’ll all be richer for it.

This week’s update will feature the new and I think improved Jerulith, who is still her angry old self, but more refined and world-weary, which better suits the quiet atmosphere of Falkreath.

Berg in Paris

UPDATE: On second thought, might toss one up now that I’ve gotten the rest of the audio. So the bottom paragraph no longer applies. Berg very pleased.

Just wanted to mention there won’t be an update tomorrow, for a couple of reasons. First, there’s really no major fixes required save for the Fenced In quest, which can be easily bypassed via the console. More importantly, a couple NPCs are sort of half-finished, including the re-working of one character in preparation for a quest. Given the involvement of this NPC in other thingamajigs, I want to wait until all the old stuff is voiced and functional first. Double voices make Berg sad.

An e-mailer asked if I would create another elongated questline similar to Blood of Kings. I don’t know if I’ll do anything to that extent, but there are some quests in the future that will string together multiple NPCs. Which is always a good thing, because then I have an excuse to add party banter, which everyone loves. Who hates party banter? Wallflowers, maybe.

One of the mod users, Cato, mentioned we should have a page for user screenshots somewhere on the blog, similar to Nexus. I think the best place for that would probably be on the wiki pages for the characters. It would be awesome if there were a way to click on the default image and pop up either a slideshow or something similar to Nexus where all the images are on one page. I suppose the first thing we’d need is a way for users to submit pictures other than sending me them manually. So get on that shit, WordPress.

Lastly, a final reminder for all those who were unaware, but the Bioware Dragon Age voice actor contest will be closing in…oh well, fuck. In two hours. So by the time you’re reading this, it’ll probably be over, but I bet those grapes were fucking sour tasting anyway. Good luck to all those who entered.
