Pictures and Profile Pages

2012-12-01_00001bAs the wiki slowly begins to take form, one of the things I want to give the masses out there the opportunity to do is provide screenshots for the various characters. What’s there now is basically whatever photo myself, Blauwvis, or Sifka can take while creating tables and blurbs, but ideally we want pictures that are pretty to look at or are symbolic of the quest.

The original photo I used for The Radiant Dark was shitty beyond belief, so I decided to put on my photographer’s hat and try and get some action shots. This one is probably the best of the bunch, with the whole juxtaposition of light and dark.

If you’d like to submit a photo for a character page, I will be more than happy to use it provided it is awesome. Ideally I prefer vanilla settings, as I’m boring like that, but I’m not married to any specific lighting/texture setup.

In other news, I think I will start the weekly updates next week, depending on how much content I get from the voice actors. This will allow bug fixes to get out promptly as well. The Blood of Kings Questline has a particularly nasty one right after the climax which I want to take care of, but the questline will probably remain in Alpha/Beta until I’m sure there are no others.

Again, we need testers, as right now it is just me and Blauwvis trying to squish bugs on our own, so anyone who is interested shoot me an email at kristakahashi@gmail.com. Until we can get this thing fully polished, I’ll have to leave the WIP/Beta label on the box.

3DNPC v2.42

2013-04-16_00037

Here are the release notes for version 2.42 beta. Again, special thanks to the awesome Blauwvis for testing, as well as all the others on the forums who volunteered to try out the Alpha/Beta quests and report bugs for the previous version. She also did tremendous work on the wiki, and now Sifka has been working like a madman on the same. And of course, the voice actors have always been an indispensable part of the team. We’re still a long way from getting this thing fully operational, but being able to spread out the work helps immensely.

With this update, you’ll notice the sound folder is in the form of loose files. Next version, I might go one step further and only put the scripts in the BSA, as I didn’t realize the meshes/textures were so large. However, ideally we want to reduce clutter so uninstalling is simple.

Trailers and Teasers

Another day, another video. Morndas is voiced by the incomparable Anna Castiglioni, who pumped out 200 lines in a matter of days. Considering Morndas has about 700 or so lines total, I’m fairly optimistic about how quickly she will be voiced. More importantly, knowing I have a reliable voice makes me more likely to write for her in the future.

Admittedly, I hesitate to write lines for NPCs knowing there’s a chance the VA will never do them, or perhaps take so much time that it almost seems that way. Conversely, when someone like Anna takes a role, there really are no limitations, so expect more from Morndas in the future.

Also, I just realized how ridiculous it looks to have used my real last name for this character. Next time I make a video I will use my canon playthrough, Chazz Ironstud.
