Mechanical Menace
Attacked by robots? Now there’s a fate worse than death.
A New Threat
Whatever this “Mechanist” has planned, I’m already annoyed with it.
General Atomics is known for their Mr. Handy’s. It’s safe to say the Mechanist’s machines are not your standard model.
Oh dear, are we really going to walk around with a brain in our satchels? Let’s hope Ada doesn’t make us do a return trip.
So Ada wants to build a workbench. Well, I can deal with building more robots, provided they help out with the chores.
Headhunting
The Rust Devils are smarter than your average raider. But that’s hardly a compliment now, is it.
Jezebel seems perfectly deranged. I almost like her. If only she weren’t the byproduct of one of the worst literary movements of the 20th century.
Restoring Order
So you convinced the Mechanist to stop her fool’s errand, using only your words and your rhetoric. Whether it be via pathos, ethos, or logos, you’ve proven to be quite the orator.
It’s unfortunate you had to use violence, but not everyone listens to reason. Aristotle’s rhetoric means nothing when the listener exists outside the realm of common sense.
Far Harbor
Far from Home
So Detective Valentine is in need of our assistance once more. Well, if you’ll be his Sherlock, I’d be happy to play Dr. Watson.
Go to the Nakanos
I didn’t realize there were people living that far up the coast. But I suppose that’s the point.
Search for clues
Whatever clues we find, the prognosis is grim for Kasumi. After all, there’s nowhere safe left in the world. But it shouldn’t stop us from trying.
Find holotape
It must’ve been an idyllic life for the Nakanos, living on this pier. Never did it occur to them that the tide would come from within.
Walk in the Park
(Avery) Some sort of detective, huh? Well, she came through, all right.
So they know her. Good. It shouldn’t be hard to pick up the trail from here.
(Avery) What?
I’m afraid my partner asks the questions. Answering is not something they do.
(Avery) Another Commonwealth traveler looking for Acadia, then.
Acadia, is it. In the old world, Nova Scotia was once called by the name. We might just be in the same place.
On CofAtom
Can we get back to business?
Yes, we’re not interested in your island’s politics. We came for a reason.
(Player) Sounds like you should deal with the Children of Atom. Permanently.
Emphasis on the word “you.”
(CoA made fog worse?)
(Avery) Absolutely not. There’s not one bit of evidence.
Of course, given the suspect’s history, evidence might not be necessary.
The Last Plank
The Last Plank. A fitting name for the edge of the world.
Andre
Good work saving that young man. You didn’t tell me you practiced medicine. I’m dealing with a bit of anxiety myself.
Perhaps later on you can prescribe me a lobster frittata and some music to help us settle in.
Blood Tide
Ms. Dalton seems eager for vengeance. I know the feeling. Time will tell if it dooms her the way it almost did me.
Safe Passage
Without the fog condensers, this town will be helpless. We should do what we can to fix them.
Granted, engineering isn’t something I studied at boarding school. Perhaps you’ll have better luck.
Hull Breach
The Mariner isn’t much for small talk, is she. I suppose in her mind, we won’t be around for long.
Fog/Walk in the Park
Whatever this fog does, it can’t be good for the skin.
“The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” There was fog there too. But I imagine it wasn’t nearly as toxic as this one.
Old Longfellow isn’t nearly as strange as the rumors implied. In fact, he seems like the most level-headed person here.
DLC03DialogueDiMA
(DiMa is pronounced Deema)
DiMa seems kind, but I’ve learned that first impressions mean about as much as a bikini in a snowstorm.
So my advice is to be careful.
DLC03AcadiaM01
I wonder if the people of Far Harbor would be so accepting of Acadia if they knew they had a mole in their midst.
DLC03AcadiaM03
The machines here look complicated enough. Faraday, however, seems like a rather straightforward servant.
Kasumi
You… you’re from home? You came all this way… for me?
Well, we certainly didn’t come for the local cuisine and neighborly charm.
What if DiMA is so open and welcoming because he’s actually hiding something from us? A plan to wipe out the rest of the island?
It would be quite the twist. And by that I mean quite the predictable one.
All right. Good luck. Let me know what you find out.
Rest assured, my dear, if what you say is true, DiMA picked the wrong person to lie to.
Eavesdrop
Rather convenient for DiMA to simply stash his memories away. For the rest of us, we live with our regrets every day. But that’s how we learn not to repeat them.
Confront DiMA
Our ultimate goal must be to bring peace. If you attack them, they’ll consider themselves at war with the outside world.
My dear, if you’ve been to the Commonwealth, you know they already do.
Brain Dead
(Pearl) Oh wonderful! I wasn’t sure how I was ever going to find you.
Lucky us.
(Pearl) Oh drat. You look just like the person that Mayor Avery had described. I was sure you were the one investigating that missing persons case.
No need to apologize, darling, you’ve found us. After all, there’s no mistaking who the trendiest pair on the island are.
(Player) I might be, depends what this is about.
And more importantly, how much time it will waste.
Mayor Avery said that someone new had arrived on the island, investigating a missing person. That must be you!
Did she also mention his femme fatale of a partner? If not, I’d be greatly disappointed.
Did she also mention her femme fatale of a partner?
So, it looks like we have a new case, detective. A murder mystery at an old hotel.
It’s no Maltese Falcon, I’m sure, but I’m intrigued enough to see it through.
Vault 118 ADV001_4
Oh dear, another vault. It seems the ferals are the only ones civilized enough to live above ground.
Although granted, judging by the decor, I’m sure they made every effort to make the inside as lavish as the out.
So the residents are robots. I had hoped for ghouls, but the path to immortality isn’t always a straight line.
As for the mystery, I’m sure it won’t be as simple as saying “The Butler did it.”
We should look around for clues.
My father would’ve known Ezra better than I. We dabbled in the same circles, of course, but I was the type who preferred to spend money rather than accumulate it.
ADV001_6
Now this I like. Why bother walking to the beach when you can build one next door.
Sleep with Gilda
Two hundred years ago bedding Gilda Broscoe would’ve been quite the feat. It still is, mind you, but for entirely different reasons.
Find out killer
So Ezra was both victim and murderer. A fitting twist for an old tale. And I must say, you’re a regular Bogart for solving it.
(optional)
I’m not sure why we had to let him go, however. In my experience, that’s not how these movies end.
Go to Nucleus
From what I gather, these Children aren’t a hostile sect. Religion often splinters in this way, like Quakers and Catholics. Still, we should proceed with caution, given our mission.
National Campground HQ
It seems not even Far Harbor is immune to the mutant plague. Just another feature they conveniently left off the travel brochure.
Beaver Creek Lanes
As far as entertainment goes, ferals and bowling are one and the same. Both involve mindlessly barreling into everything and calling it sport.
Visions in the Fog
I have a feeling this spring is more than just irradiated. But nothing a few fermented grapes can’t fix.
Hagia Sophia is pronounced Haiyah Sofeeyah
As far as religious shrines go, it’s no Hagia Sophia, but I suppose it’s the thought that counts.
Player joins Atom
Yes, let’s join the club whose lieutenant proudly calls himself the “Grand Zealot.”
Player doesn’t join Atom
Smart move. Most cults end up in the news for all the wrong reasons. The last thing we should be doing is joining them.
Player is willing to learn
Well, I could teach you the world is flat and Nuka-Cola is liquid fairy dust. I’m sure whatever you learn here will be just as useful.
Basement Armory
Missiles, bullets, and soda. Honestly, it’s not much different from your average Pre-War basement.
The Nucleus
This place has the feel of a Tibetan monastery. Of course, the monks there shave their heads. The ones here tend to let it fall out.
It seems our High Confessor sits on a lavish throne with plenty of comforts and amenities.
Perhaps this religion is not unlike others – where faith isn’t a belief, but a commodity.
Nucleus Command Center ADV022_1
Careful. The trap here isn’t the lasers, it’s impatience.
Nucleus Command Center ADV022_2
The machinery in here looks complicated. Which means we’ve reached the end of the line.
Nucleus Command Center ADV022_3
That must be wear DiMA’s memories are stored. My advice? Skip the first and last century. The interesting parts usually happen in the middle.
The Way Life Should Be
So our ostensibly kind, welcoming DiMA has a mole in Far Harbor, a nuclear arsenal, and a kill switch for the fog condensers.
Is this the point where I feign surprise? After all, I did warn you about him from the start.
Eden Meadows Cinema ADV001 AND 002
(Ferals watching movie)
If you want to know the quality of pictures shown here, just look at the clientele.
It’s a shame that B-movies like westerns and monster movies are well preserved, while stage plays lay in the rubble with the actors who performed them.
Safe Passage complete
The condensers are back up, but the cost was heavy. I can’t imagine why Avery thought it was a good idea to send him out alone.
Cleansing the Land
Franny must have been a Communist spy. Whose existence, if you recall, brought about the same hysteria synths do now.
I suppose the old axiom is true. War never changes.
DLC03AcadiaM01
It’s not surprising some of these trappers turned cannibal. Not every feral wears the face of a ghoul.
DLC03AcadiaM03
Faraday’s hiding something, that much is obvious. But I suppose it’s par for the course with this group.
DLC03AcadiaM02
There is nowhere on Earth you can hide from a courser – Far Harbor is no exception. Lucky for us, we aren’t the hiding type.
DLC03AcadiaM04
We’re all a product of our experiences. To have your mind wiped is no different than death. Faraday didn’t save Jule.
He gave birth to her by sacrificing another.
DLC03CoA_FFNucleus01
It was kind of you to save Brother Devin, even if it was from his own foolishness.
It’s a shame Brother Devin had to die, but Darwin’s law has no mercy for fools.
DLC03CoA_FFNucleus02
(Aubert is O-bear)
Ingratiating ourselves with the Confessor may be a smart move politically, but the cost is likely that young woman’s life.
I’m glad you chose to save it instead.
I’m surprised you were willing to pay it.
DLC03CoA_Dialogue HighConfessor
Make Peace
Do you not believe we have tried?
No my dear, I don’t believe it for a second.
Destroy Far Harbor
Precisely. The only way to deal with an infection – cleanse the wound and cauterize the flesh.
True. Shall we cauterize you now, or after crumpets and tea?
I don’t know what to do
Understandable. But when faced with an enemy who would see you hunted, beaten, and robbed of what is rightfully yours, there can be only one course of action. Fight back.
You do realize you’re describing yourself just as much you are Far Harbor.
Is Far Harbor that bad?
Yes, they are.
Well if the man with the funny hat says it, then it must be true.
DLC03CoA_FFNucleus03
Fixes arches to clear rads
It was smart to repair Sister Mai’s arches. Who knows how much radiation you’ve soaked up being around those zealots.
Fixes arches to spray rads
I’m not sure your “fix” for Sister Mai’s arches will do you any good. While I’m flattered you want to follow in my footsteps, I assure you my charm comes from my personality, not my skin.
Brooks Lighthouse ADV004_1
It’s good thing we docked at Far Harbor as opposed to this lighthouse. I’m sure the reception would have been slightly more chilly.
Blood Tide
It’s good that you helped Ms. Dalton find vengeance. Wanting to avenge the death of a family member is a foreign feeling for me, but it doesn’t mean I can’t relate.
The Hold Out ADV006_1
The elderly are stubborn and unafraid of death. Getting this man to leave will require charisma. Fear and intimidation will do you no favors.
Vim Captain Blend Truck shot up Aot_POI_3
Normally I’d be against shooting up a beverage truck.
But since this Vim is nothing short of poison, I think the best word to describe these shooters is heroes.
Ruined Church
Many people flocked to churches like this as the end drew near. The rest of us went to our basements to drink.
DLC03AtomM02
Sister Gwyneth lost her faith, but it’s no excuse for nihilism. I should know. I was once its foremost practitioner.
DLC03_ADV8_001
Soda and subtlety are like oil and water. Except the latter would be safer to drink.
DLC03_ADV8_004
It’s no surprise that Super Mutants would find a home here, drinking this godawful swill. Vim is just their color too.
The Way Life Should be
And our dear DiMA’s transformation from benevolent leader to psychopathic murderer is complete. How kind of him to leave us an entire coffin full of evidence.
Confront Dima about body
(You did the right thing)
Yes… yes… No one leaves this world clean. Sacrifices have to be made…
One wonders if Captain Avery was asked for her opinion before you made this “honorable” sacrifice.
(You’re a fraud)
Maybe you’re right. The compromises I’ve made… All without even knowing…
My dear, ignorance is the worst kind of excuse. Without guilt, you’re nothing more than a monster, free to do evil without consequence.
(Let’s find a practical solution to proceed)
You’re right. We have to focus on what has to be done now.
A little convenient, isn’t it? May I ask, what about justice for Captain Avery?
(Keep your secret)
Thank you… Maybe the… guilt, will keep me focused…
What it should give you is the conscience to do what’s right.
(Telling Far Harbor)
You have to do what you feel is right, but think about the consequences carefully before you act.
Are you sure you want him to be his own judge and jury? Few in this world have the moral fiber to convict themselves.
(Turn yourself in)
And if their judgement is to destroy Acadia? The synths I’ve gathered here are innocent. I’m responsible for them being here.
Then they too will face judgment. That’s how the world works, darling.
We make choices, and we live with the consequences. What you are proposing is to deny them the right to walk the same murderous path you so blissfully tread.
But who knows. Maybe they won’t stoop to your level.
DiMA suggests replacing Children of Atom leader to make island more peaceful
(If it means peace for the island… all right. Tell me the plan.)
This will be difficult for both of us, but I think it’s our only option.
My dear, I believe the saying is “Two wrongs don’t make a right.” But sure, let’s continue down this path.
(Do your own dirty work)
I can’t. Tektus already gave me his ultimatum. He knows all my people. I need someone who has a chance of earning his trust.
If he doesn’t trust you darling, then Confessor Tektus is smarter than he looks.
Teddy finds out NPC is synth
Minimize Damage
It might be a little late for that darling. Small towns tend to do poorly with big secrets.
Make DiMA Pay
I’d say the only question now is the manner of execution.
Allen accuses NPC of being a synth
Why the hell would I spare her?
Exile might be the wiser course of action, seeing as we have no proof she knew.
(Kill the dirty synth) See? See the mainlander gets it.
The mainlander has a penchant for bloodlust. I would rather abstain.
I’m just going to stay out of this.
Yes, best to wash our hands of this entire affair. No need to bloody the suit.
DiMA convinced to turn himself in
So DiMA’s fate will put to trial. Let’s hope we have enough sway with the locals to get a seat on the jury.
DiMA Admission
(DiMA did it for the greater good)
I know that’s no comfort to the person whose life I took…
No, I imagine the only person it comforts is yourself.
(DiMa a murderer)
Yes…yes I am.
At this point, all you have left is to plead for mercy.
(Offer no defense?)
How does one justify murder?
Without shame or remorse, I imagine.
Allen threatens Acadia
(Spare Acadia)
This ain’t none of your affair, Mainlander. You got no say here.
Allen, you’d be wise to listen to us. My partner and I are the only objective voice here.
(Acadia should burn)
Even the Mainlander sees I’m right.
I disagree with you both, but I also know it’s pointless to argue.
(Shut up Allen)
Why… you… I ought to.
Yes, my dear, please do us all a favor and shut your mouth.
Side with Allen
(Let’s storm Acadia)
Haha. I like it.
Watching you both drool over this killing spree is a bit uncouth.
Too late for that.
Indeed. Allen is like a large, bearded boulder rolling down a hill. Once you set him in motion, there’s no turning back.
Acadia wiped out
(Acadia had it coming)
Damned straight.
Well, I’ve seen enough blood and death for one century. Perhaps I’ll spend the next one in monastery just to balance the books.
(You butchered innocents)
Innocents, my ass. They had it coming.
I suppose we all have it coming in one way or another as far as Allen Lee is concerned.
It should make the next twenty years a rather bloody age for Far Harbor. Hopefully we won’t be a part of it.
Acadia destroyed
(Ah-kay-dee-ah)
The death of Acadia is sad to see, but lofty ideals often fall victim to harsh realities.
There’s a reason why they say in the heart of every cynic is a disappointed idealist. And what happened here was extremely disappointing.
Reformation MQ06a
With Tektus gone and Avery in Far Harbor, DiMA now controls all three sects. Still, I can’t argue with the fact that this method offered the least amount of bloodshed, even if it rewards the one most deserving of retribution.
Blow up Nucleus Only
I wouldn’t weep for the Children of Atom. This is the ending they most desired.
Destroy Far Harbor Only
I’m not sure why you chose to remove Far Harbor from the equation, and let the murderers and fanatics live.
Then again, a sheep amongst foxes and wolves wouldn’t have lasted long anyway.
Destroy both Far Harbor and Children
So now Acadia can finally breathe easy, knowing the island is free of humans. Of course the irony is, you can’t really know that for sure, can you?
Kill DiMA save Acadia
So DiMA’s reign is over, and yet Acadia lives on. One wonders how the balance of power will shift going forward, without the tin man putting his finger on the scales.
Kasumi endings DLC03MQNickPostQuest
Kasumi’s death was unfortunate. It will be hard for all involved, knowing we could have saved her.
It was a bold move telling Kasumi’s parents she’s a synth. After all, we can’t know for sure whether it’s true, so stating it as fact seems like a risky proposition.
Acadia is probably the best place for Kasumi, given her beliefs. But if I ever I confuse myself with a machine, you have my permission to shoot. There will only ever be one Audrey.
Remarkable that Kenji and Rei were willing to take their daughter back. It’s nice to see that Kasumi won’t be punished for the sins of the Institute – provided her claims are actually true.
It’s nice to see a family reunited for a change. And it was wise not to mention her claims of synth-hood. After all, we have no way of knowing if it’s true.
Either way, that was quite the adventure. I don’t know if I ever told you, but I’m not a fan of machines. Technically, I suppose synths fall in that category. But my issue is with the creators, not the victims of their madness.
And if our little holiday proved nothing else, it’s that barbarism is something we all share in common. Be it man or machine, civility is what matters in the end. Let’s do our best not to stray from that ideal.
