3DNPC v3.07

2013-03-31_00011

This is the release of 3.07, which will coincide with a Nexus release later tonight. Jade is now finished, and I laid some groundwork for future stuff. Unfortunately the two new miscellaneous quests did not make the cut, but they’ll probably be included in the coming weeks.

I don’t have a recent picture so here is a random screenshot of Gnives. Now to dip my head in ice because it is hot as balls out here.

Fan Art – Erevan, Talie, Anum-La, and Qa’Dojo by Numeriku

Woohoo it’s Fan Art Friday or FAF as the people in the hood call it. Seriously. Go down to the hood and they’ll tell you all abouts da FAF. It is a worldwide phenomenon, and this week we are displaying the wonderful work of our resident screenshot champion, Numeriku.

The first set of pictures features Erevan and Numeriku’s PC Talie. She’s giving him the tough love and support he needs. She’s the fiery torch dragging, er, guiding his way through the dark.

Oh man, that picture in the corner. All the feels.qa_dojo_doodle_by_yee-d7sj36a

Here is a doodle of Qa’Dojo, looking rather serene. What the picture doesn’t show is that he’s riding a unicycle on a high wire. In life, balance is key.anum_la_doodle_by_yee-d7sj2kz

One of the complaints handegg players have is their lack of marketability. They wear helmets that cover up half their face, so it’s hard to identify your favorite players when they start rampaging in public. Anum-La, thankfully, doesn’t suffer from that problem. Even without her hood, you know her right away.

Here is a little dinner party Zora is having with a potato and a wedge of cheese. I imagine she’d give them both names, then find it excruciatingly hard to eat them for that reason. Of course, this would eventually lead to rotting, at which point she’d bury them in the backyard but not after having a short ceremony commemorating their life.

Au revoir, Cheesy-kins. Safe travels, Senor Mash. We hardly knew ye.

Fan Patch – Skjel Marriage by Kris Takahashi, Will Handford and Nonoodles

Skjel_OP

Do you like bones? Well, if you like them so much, why don’t you marry them? Because now you can.

Skjel Marriage Patch

This is a marriage patch I wrote for Skjel the Gray that was voiced by Will Handford then modded and brought to life by nonoodles. It’s mostly an example of how the user collaboration or fan patch section works – in this instance, the user-fan being me, creating content that is outside of canon.

Apropos of that, I never liked the word “fan.” It kind of has a negative implication, when that isn’t how I feel about the people who contribute all the amazing art, commentary, screenshots, stories, and scripts. If anything, I am a fan of you. You are the reason I do this.

Still, calling people “users” makes everyone sound like drug addicts, which I’m sure only applies to half of you. There has to be a better word to describe everyone – the contributors, the actors, the modders, the readers, the compatriots, my friends.

Yet no matter what we call ourselves, my hope is that by making it a collaborative effort the characters will continue to grow long after my bones are buried. So pick up a pen (and then throw it away because seriously typing with a pen is pretty inefficient) and write something and we’ll do our best to bring it to life.
